Board positions:


Director of Outreach

Responsibilities: Design the overall strategy for Reconnect Rochester to communicate its mission and vision to the Rochester community. Lead efforts to identify potential partners and work to build & maintain lasting relationships with those individuals and organizations. Represent Reconnect Rochester at meetings and events to inform others about our work and develop opportunities for partnership. Our ideal candidate is very outgoing, personable, and dedicated. This is a great way to build your own professional experience and network.

This is a Board position. The Board meets at 7pm on the 1st Tuesday of each month.

Director of Events

Responsibilities: Work with our Board of Directors to create a yearly calendar of educational, social, and fundraising events (large and small). Set and manage event budgets. Secure sponsorships. Plan and manage all details to ensure events run smoothly (including negotiating and booking venues, speakers, talent, putting up decorations, inviting guests, promoting, coordinating volunteers, etc.). This is a demanding position but a great way to build your own professional experience and network.

Director of Policy and Advocacy

Responsibilities: Lead our federal and state advocacy program to promote investment in public transportation for Rochester. Takes the lead in developing and implementing the organization’s policy agenda at the federal and state level. Monitor and analyze relevant activity in Albany and Washington D.C. and provide strategic analysis and background for the development of our annual policy agenda. Develop and implement a strategy for advancing policy goals with key decision-makers at the state and national level.

Treasurer

Responsibilities: Maintain financial knowledge of the organization. Manage the Board’s review of, and action related to, the Board’s financial responsibilities. Ensure that appropriate financial reports are made available to the Board on a timely basis. Work with the Finance Committee and the Executive Director to prepare the annual budget, and present the budget to the Board for approval. Work with the Finance Committee to develop fiscal policies and ensure the financial integrity and sustainability of the organization. Ensure all governmental and legal filing deadlines are met. Our ideal candidate has working knowledge of financial accounting for nonprofit organizations and keeps currently informed of legal, regulatory and sector developments relating to the Board’s financial responsibilities.

Grant Seeker & Writer

Responsibilities: As a non-profit organization with limit resources, we need to find funding to grow and do all the things we want to do to achieve our mission. You’d be in constant communication with our Board of Directors and committee leads to learn about our projects, and then work to identify and win funding for those initiatives.

 

Web Developer

Responsibilities: Depending on your area of expertise and level of experience we have several different jobs you may be able to help us with. Please drop us a line and include links to some of your previous work if available.

 

Photographer

Responsibilities: Attend Reconnect Rochester events and capture photos of attendees and the venue. Posting those photographs to our Flickr page. Professional photography skills a plus, but not mandatory. The preferred type of person is someone who likes to interact with people and snap pictures.
