Volunteers from Reconnect Rochester and Flower City AmeriCorps are teaming up to clear snow from bus stops and crosswalks in various Rochester neighborhoods this winter. We’re calling it The Great Rochester Snow Down and we could use your help on Saturday 1/23…
Join us:
Saturday, January 23
10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
N. CLINTON AVENUE
Two different teams will start from either end of North Clinton and shovel until we meet in the middle. Meet us at either Norton Street or Upper Falls Blvd (your choice).
If you have a shovel please bring it. If you don’t have a shovel, we will share.
Last year, record cold temperatures and mountains of snow made many of our sidewalks and bus stops inaccessible for weeks at a time. This year, before winter tightens its icy grip, we’d like to invite you to help us defend our streets.
And if there is no snow we will clean up litter instead. Bring a trash bag and gloves instead of a shovel. Last Saturday we didn’t let 50º temperatures stop us from cleaning up Monroe Avenue…
Yes! There WILL be free lunch for those who lend a hand.
And if you can’t join us on the 23rd, you can join us in spirit. Snap a photo of you and your friends shoveling any public sidewalk or bus stop and post it to social media using #RocSnowDown .
